Could it be? Sure, couldn't wait to
visit this one, it looked quite promising! One of my friends Vernica decided to
take to that place. When we entered Irish House, we were looking for a Bar
around Phoenix Mill Compound. As soon as you enter you're encompassed by this
cool rock 'n' roll vibe. It's just your typical pub atmosphere, bricky, wooden
tabled wonder, with your sports channels being broadcasted everywhere and of
course, The BAR. The bar was a glorious one, to be sure. I even liked the fact
that they had a very spacious seating area, though reservations are required.
The crowd was a good mix, and the music was conducive to a fun evening out with
a few friends and beer. Very Sports Bar-esque.
The interiors have touch of wood all over with good seating
arrangement. And to keep up with the tradition of Irish pubs, even Irish House
has bar stools where people can sit by the bar and order their drinks and food.
For those in the bigger group, you have choice of corner tables or big tables
in the center. Luckily got seat @ the bar. The ambiance is good. It’s warm, pub
like decor, a great center bar, booths and tables with interesting posters on
the walls. Everything just adds to the fun, relaxed feel.
We tried the Basket of Fries (served with 3 dips – just
loved it!), Grande Nachos (served on a big plate – Not too good but okayish!),
and what a Gorgeous bar! No words for it. Irish House is a fun place to go to; however, it is not
exactly Irish; Instead an amalgamation of Italian, bar food and Mexican. For a
place that is called 'Irish House', it should have some of the Irish
traditional dishes - stew, butter milk mash potatoes, corn beef sandwich. The
only traditional dish that I saw was the shepherd’s pie. The food is nothing
very special but tasty nevertheless. The service is good and warm. Price wise,
Irish House is on steeper side if you don’t hit the happy hours.
Although the beer selection could have used a bit more Irish
and imported beer, the selection isn't bad. It is a good place to go and grab a
casual drink after a work day with colleagues and friends. At first sight it looks like a bar that's definitely going
to burn a hole in your pocket! But surprise surprise, it really doesn't! :-)
The cocktails (Tasted one with Vodka) are delicious! Well blended and
inexpensive they will definitely leave you wanting more! This is a great place
to watch a sports game or to just hang out! The staff is really nice and the
place is a buzz with mainly office goers. It has a really chilled out vibe to
it and for the beer drinkers, this place is heaven. Their keg of draft beer is
really cheap and heard it’s delicious too. For the foodies, the potato basket
is a definite yes.
The music moves from retro to rock to commercial as the
night progresses and definitely satiates any mood you may be in. The bar/ pub
feel gives way too more of a night club vibe as more and more people get high
and start dancing at every available spot they can find. Overall a nice convivial atmosphere, decent food, and a fun
evening on the whole. Will I be going back? Absolutely, whenever I visit Mumbai
next time.
